our origin story...
Victoria Ashly Griggs and Gregory Warfield Jr. met on the set of a Black History Month episodic for Hulu — a rare moment where the crew reflected the culture being celebrated on screen. It was one of the few times they had been on a truly diverse set, despite years of working on projects featuring Black talent, athletes of color, and culturally specific stories. Both had grown used to asking the same question: Where is the diversity behind the camera? And both had grown tired of the silence that followed.

As they continued to cross paths on sets that centered BIPOC talent but excluded BIPOC crews, they started to see a pattern — one where diverse creatives were invited into the frame but not into the process. They had each spent years trying to climb the ranks within predominantly white production companies, often offering up vetted contacts from underrepresented backgrounds, only to be ignored, sidelined, or quietly blacklisted for speaking up.

So they made a decision: instead of waiting for a seat at someone else’s table, they would build their own. Sweeter The Juice Films was created to shift the standard — to produce high-quality work while hiring intentionally, creating welcoming environments, and ensuring that every person on set feels seen, respected, and safe to do their best work. What started as a shared frustration became a clear mission: to make film production more inclusive, more collaborative, and far more reflective of the world we live in.
